ABOUT US

The Jess & Alexis love story.

ALEXIS KRAUSS & JESSICA ASSAF MET IN 2014 ON THE DAY AFTER VALENTINE'S DAY IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, AFTER ALEXIS READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT PLASTIC MICRO-BEADS IN EXFOLIANTS.

Alexis (a teacher-turned-one half of Sleigh Bells,) called her best friend at Fair Trade USA, who told her about an organic skincare company in her neighborhood making products with 5 ingredients or less. She immediately contacted the company and asked for product samples. Jessica (a beauy activist-turned-entrepreneur,) responded, and met Alexis at a coffee shop that was 2 blocks from both of their apartments. To say it was fate is an understatement.

Long story short, Jessica invited Alexis back to her place and they talked for hours about the scary state of cosmetic safety. They were determined to create a movement to demand better beauty standards and to promote the safest, highest-performing, and most affordable products on the market.

A few weeks later, they launched this website.
