The Wisdom of Plant Medicine: A Conversation with Stefani Padilla of La Tierra Sagrada

Alexis Krauss

We're thrilled to announce that starting Tuesday we'll be hosting an exclusive Instagram giveway with La Tierra Sagrada, an all natural hair care line created by hairstylist Stefani Padilla. Stefani's line embodies a truly holistic approach to haircare. Stefani employs her extensive knowledge of plant medicine to create uniquely powerful healing products that are healthy for both your hair and the planet. Check out our interview with Stefani below and get ready to ditch your conventional conditioner for something seriously special! Xoxo Alexis

1. Define each in your own words: #truthbeauty and #beautybullshit.

Truth beauty is sharing the truth and wisdom of a product, and understanding how the ingredients inside truly are beneficial.

Beauty bullshit is in reference to the companies out there lying, distracting and brainwashing consumers to believe the “bullshit” they are selling them. A lot of the claims that are boasted about products are "bullshit." Modern consumerism is slowly shifting, but we all still look for that quick fix “youth” “weight” “hair growth” miracle product. Sadly, most of it is bullshit. So it is important to educate ourselves on what truly clean and pure products are and why they're a safer, and better choice.

2. What do you find most inspiring about the world of natural beauty right now?

The all natural, hand made movement going on right now is strong.
People are becoming more aware of the medicinal benefits from plants alone, and are creating beauty lines as clean as the food we eat.

3. Why do you think so many brands continue to formulate their products with toxic chemicals and synthetic ingredients?

It is far more cost efficient. There are still big companies out there focused on quantity, instead of quality. The cost, as well as the supply of these organic, sometime seasonal ingredients gets to be expensive. Also, it's a lot easier to consider a product $15 or less than it is to purchase a $30 or higher priced product. There are even “all natural” “organic” shampoos that still use some ingredients that go through toxic processes. It is always important to check labels and educate yourself on ingredients before using.

4. What advice can you give to female entrepreneurs looking to make an impact in the natural beauty world?

GO FOR IT!!! Now is the time. This movement is growing and the more people out there sharing the beauty and wisdom, the better! Fear is usually what holds us all back, but 2015 is the year to break free from the limitations and do it...It will make a positive shift in the world, and after all, isn't that what we are all here to do ;)

5. Tell us about your formulations. How do you go about choosing each ingredient?

Each ingredient has a specific healing element. I call my line hair medicine, since it is truly made with medicinal plants.  After years of working with plant medicine, and the years of educating myself about the healing powers these plants hold, I chose to start La Tierra Sagrada with 3 of my favorite products. I created the line using the most organic and natural plants and oils I could find. Thats way they can be used safely on the skin, as well as the hair.

6. What's next for La Tierra Sagrada?

The Shampoo and Conditioner are next on the horizon. They will be arriving by Spring.
I have a couple new ideas, I will begin to play with, and hope to have ready by fall 2015.
